Midwest Treffen 15 Info
Midwest Treffen has taken over the intire weekend of August 12-14 and includes the following activities:
- A huge Volkswagen/Audi car show on Sunday
- A competitive autocross on Saturday
- A cruise down the Chicago lakefront on Friday night
Car Show Activities
While the car show on Sunday is the event that makes Midwest Treffen, it's not the only thing going on! This year at Treffen we have the following actives going on through out the day on Sunday:
Swap Meet
Midwest Treffen 15 is excited to announce the inclusion of a swap meet for 2011. Whether you are looking to sell automotive parts and accessories or looking to find parts at discounted prices, the swap meet at Midwest Treffen 15 has something to offer for everyone. Car Show Attendees can purchase available swap meet spaces at a rate of $20 per space the day of the show. Spaces are limited and will fill up fast so be sure to get there early!
Note: The CVO is not responsible for lost or stolen parts and as such recommends having a person present at the space(s) at all times. No electrical connections will be provided. All swap meet items must be kept within the boundaries of the purchased space(s). Automotive-related parts only. Business are prohibited from utilizing the swap meet and are encourages to purchase vendor space at the car show.
Cup-Crushing Competition
New to Midwest Treffen for 2011 is a competition designed for those of you with a love of low-riding. If you're vehicle is riding low on air suspension, the Midwest Treffen 15 Cup-Crushing Competition is a perfect way to show off. Register for the competition when you pre-register your car or when you register the day of the show. Each participant will be given two opportunities to place a paper cup under an exterior body panel (i.e. bumper or side-skirt) and lower their vehicle, crushing the paper cup as much as possible. The vehicle that crushes the cup the most will be crowned winner and will receive a very special award!
Note: The CVO is not responsible for any damage incurred to a vehicle participating in the competition. Each cup must be placed underneath an exterior body panel; placement under suspension or chassis components is prohibited. Paper cups to be provided by Midwest Treffen staff.
Update: Because of lack of vendor/sponsor involvement from air suspension companies, the Cup-Crushing Competition may be cancelled.
Dunk Tank
Come to Midwest Treffen 15 and enjoy giving someone a splash! Everyone loves a Dunk Tank, so for 2011 we're bringing one to the show on Sunday. Pay a nominal fee and take your turn trying to dunk one of our volunteers. Be sure to practice throwing a strike!
Bag Toss
Midwest Treffen has always been an atmosphere that goes beyond the car show, and 2011 is no different. Feel free to enjoy a game or two of Bag Toss between friends. At a cost of $1 per person for each game, friendly competition has never been more affordable!
Sidewalk Art
Being a family-oriented event, Midwest Treffen strives to offer many activities for families to enjoy throughout the day. New for 2011 is a sidewalk art area, giving show attendees the chance to decorate the sidewalk with the chalk design of their choice.
Car Show Classes
The Treffen Planning Committee took feedback about Treffen 14 to heart and has sought to expand the car classes for Treffen 15. We took a close look at the cars participating in Treffen for the last two years and removed as many "All" classes as we felt we could. We wanted a competitive field for each class, so if you want even fewer "All" classes in the future, get your buddies out to represent with their A1-A3's. The classes this year are as follows:
- A1 All
- A2 All
- A3 All
- A4 Golf
- A4 Jetta
- A5 Rabbit
- A5 Jetta
- A6 All
- Scirocco
- Corrado
- B Platform (Dasher, Quantum, Passat, CC)
- VW Aircooled
- VW Other (New Beetle, Eos, Eurovan, Fox, Phaeton, Routan, Tiguan, Toureg, etc)
- Late A4 (B6 and newer)
- Early A4 (B5 and older)
- Audi Other
To give you an idea of where each class will be, the preliminary lot layout is as follows. Please bear in mind this layout can be subject to change, ALWAYS follow the directions of the volunteers for parking locations on the day of the show.
